Composition

The Senior is especially tailored for: - Horses with a reduced chewing capacity - Elderly horses - Horses which need a ration low in starch and sugar - Horses which benefit from additional vitamins, minerals and protein - Horses which benefit from additional roughage of high quality The senior is a roughage-based such as the ration of any horse should be. The roughage mixture is composed of soft and short cut fibre for elderly horses. Roughage stimulates chewing to produce saliva that is essential for a healthy digestive tract. The Senior can be used as a partial or entire ration replacement. The senior includes all essential vitamins, minerals, trace elements and amino acids to support an elderly horse. These nutrients are included in the Hartog Balancer through a premix perfectly tailored to the increased requirements of some vitamins of senior horses, for through increased levels of vitamin C and K. To secure optimal absorption the trace elements are organically bound.

Product FAQ’S

Should I choose for a mash or roughage product for my senior horse? Because of the soft structure and the short length the senior is even processable for horses with severe dental issues. Roughage is the most important part of the ration of every horse, this is also the case for senior horses. Without roughage it is impossible to keep the digestive tract healthy. Always assure the ration of your senior exists for the most or entire part of roughage.  You can mix chopped roughage like the senior through your mash. How can I feed the Senior to my horse? You can offer the Senior to your horse in many ways: - Singly in your feeding bucket - Mixed with other feedstuffs - In a hay net with a fine mesh From which age onwards can I feed the Senior? Each horse ages in his or hers on way. There is no set limit from which tailored senior feed should be fed. It is important to look at your horse. When your horse falls back in condition without any medical reason your horse may require the support of senior feeds. Typical senior horse characteristics (vertaling kwaaltjes?) include for example loss of muscles and/or dental problems. Is the Senior only suited for elder horses? When your horse requires nutritious high quality roughage with a low starch and sugar content the senior can also be suitable for your adult horse. Horses recovering from illness have similar requirements to senior horses which is why horses recovering from illness can also benefit from senior
